Going to the Dogs!
It’s the perfect time of year to consider taking your canine friends to any of the three outstanding off-leash dog parks in Lake Havasu. Allowing our four-legged friends the opportunity to run and socialize is a delight for both owner and dog alike.
Each park is completely fenced in with double-gated entrances for your pup’s safety. Recent closures, (rotated among the three parks) allowed for maintenance, the recovery and greening of the grass, and the addition of exercise stations that your dog can enjoy.
Walking your dog around the neighborhood is a necessity for most breeds, but a trip to one of Havasu’s conveniently located dog parks is a real treat! Besides, what dog wouldn’t enjoy the ride in the car on the way there? Here’s a quick overview of each of our pet-friendly locations:
Lions Dog Park at London Bridge Beach
1340 McCulloch Blvd
Hours: Dawn-11pm
Fees: Free
This park overlooks the famous Bridgewater Channel that leads out to Lake Havasu. Shaded benches and walking paths keep us humans happy, while water and wading pools features keep the dogs cool as they play. You may want to consider a harness over a lead if you’re dog lacks confidence around water.
Dylan’s Dog Park at SARA Park
7200 Dub Campbell Parkway
Hours: Dawn-11pm
Admission: Free
This two-acre off-leash dog park has separate fenced in sections for small (under 25 pounds) and larger dogs. Each section has a grassy area, pooch wading pool, walking paths (one approximately 1/10 mile and the other approximately 1/5 mile), and covered benches. Although the small dog section is reserved for the little guys, smaller dogs with attitudes can run with the big dogs if they would like! The scenery is also quite spectacular.
Avalon Park
1294 Avalon Ave
Hours: Dawn-11pm
Admission: Free
Avalon Park is an off-leash dog park located in a quiet neighborhood. It is comprised of a large grassy expanse, shaded and open-air benches, children’s playground, covered ramadas, a walking path (approximately 1/5 mile), and a wading pool.
If you’re new to town, or a dog owner that has never ventured out to the dog park, now is the time to change your routine. You’ll be glad you did, and your dog will love you for it! You could even consider asking an experienced dog walker like Confident Mutt to come with you for support in this new environment, and they could even take your dog there whilst you’re working so they get used these sorts of environments. I’m sure you won’t regret it!
