Every year thousands of visitors pass through Lake Havasu. Many are first timers, while others make it a regular trek to escape the onset of winter from wherever they’re traveling from. They all have one thing in common—they want to come to Havasu! Lake Havasu isn’t on the beaten path between any two great destinations, but rather a side trip that takes a conscious effort to seek out. But most, if not all visitors, will agree that once they spend some time in Havasu, it was well worth the extra effort.
Harold and Judy Banks have been traveling from Colorado to Yuma for the past 11 years to spend their winter months golfing and visiting with friends (also winter visitors). And while they were familiar with Havasu, they’ve not spent much time in our fair city. But this year, they decided to spend a long weekend visiting their daughter and son-in-law, taking advantage of some beautiful Havasu weather. Judy summed it up best, “We decided that while visiting family we could look around Havasu and then head on to Yuma for the winter.” Harold and Judy both liked what they saw and even did a little research on winter rentals in town.
Harold has some fond memories of some golf outings with friends in Havasu over the years, “I’ve golfed The Courses at London Bridge, and found it very enjoyable.” This time around, they mostly spent time with their family, but did get out and about, enjoying a wonderful meal at Angelina’s along the way.
Both Harold and Judy see the appeal of Lake Havasu and understand why so many people spend their winter months here. “There’s a lot of great restaurants, the golfing is great, and the weather is what one would expect in Arizona during the winter. Colorado is beautiful, but the winter can be a bit cold, and there’s not as much to do in the winter months,” notes Judy.
Both enjoyed their brief stay in Havasu and have discussed the possibility of making Havasu their winter home away from home next winter.
A fair amount of our friends visit during the winter months to escape a harsh winter from wherever they hail from, including our visitors north of the border. As tempting as this sounds, to just fly over to a country with better weather, not everyone will be in a financial situation to be able to do this just yet. One way of ensuring you are kept warm and comfortable in the winter months is through companies that provide the service of Heating Oil Delivery for your boiler, to make sure it works properly. There’s nothing worse than having a broken boiler in the winter. Before you think about flying off anywhere, making sure your boiler is fixed seems like your top priority.
We caught up with four like-minded friends from Moss Bank, Saskatchewan, Canada, a small grain farming community of 300 people.
Back in 2009, Dean decided to finally check out Havasu and he has been returning here with his wife Andrea ever since. Dean enjoys the wonderful climate that allows him to get out and ride his bike all winter—and hit the golf courses. And of course, Dean also enjoys the lake and says his 1970 Chevy Chevelle fits right in with the other classic cars around town.
Enjoying the size of the town, which he describes as “just right,” Wayne is impressed by the friendliness of everyone in town. He also enjoys the beautiful weather that Havasu has during the winter months. Wayne enjoys biking, drinking beer, and hanging out with his friends in Havasu.
Last year when they were wintering here they rented some side by sides—this year they brought their own. Winter visitors in Havasu for five months out of the year, Jim stated that he and his wife enjoy the availability of fresh foods like fruits and vegetables. Jim enjoys getting with his friends from back home that are also in Havasu, as well as meeting and making new friends.
